In Western Australia, the legal limit is 35% VLT for front windows and 20% VLT for rear windows. VLT (Visible Light Transmission) refers to the amount of light allowed through the tint. So, 20% VLT means 80% of light is blocked. Tinting the windscreen is completely illegal, including any strips across the top.
